Previously Head of Chambers at New Court Chambers, Birmingham, before he joined 4 Fountain Court.  

 

Practice details

Specialist criminal practitioner, with predominantly defence practice, but does receive instructions from the CPS at Grade 4 level. Instructed in a wide variety of matters – murder / manslaughter, serious non-fatal violence, armed robbery and other offences involving firearms, importation and supply of drugs, rape and other sexual offences  (historical and current), dangerous driving and death by dangerous driving, dishonesty of all kinds. Has extensive experience of covert police surveillance / public interest immunity issues arising in undercover drugs investigations.  

Recent instructions have included :

  • junior for the Crown in a murder case where death occurred some 7 years after the original incident
  • represented  (junior Counsel) one of 3 defendants charged with murder and attempted murder
  • represented (junior Counsel) a woman with substantial mental health problems, charged with murder of her 6 year old daughter

Registered pupil supervisor. Has lectured on recent changes in the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008.
