Career background

Called to the Bar in 1995 following many years practice as a solicitor, principally in Birmingham.

In brief :

  • admitted as a solicitor in 1978 following articles at Messrs. Wragge & Co., Birmingham
  • employed as an assistant solicitor at Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council, specialising in the presentation of local authority prosecutions and public family law proceedings
  • became a Senior Prosecuting Solicitor at the Birmingham office of the West Midlands Chief Prosecuting Solicitor
  • criminal and child care practice as an assistant solicitor, and then as a partner, at Messrs. Eagle & Boyars, Birmingham
  • in 1998, together with Kevin Grego, founded 'Parker & Grego', solicitors, which became one of the busiest criminal and child care practices in the West Midlands
  • was a member of the Law Society's Specialist Child Care Panel from the commencement of that panel

Specialist criminal practitioner, instructed in the full range of serious criminal cases, by the defence and prosecution  -  homicide and death by dangerous driving, non-fatal violence and public disorder, drugs offences, rape and sexual assault, large scale dishonesty.  Grade 4 CPS prosecutor.
